The energy efficiency or performance of a unit corresponds to the energy it releases compared to the energy it consumes. The higher the performance, the more efficient, economical and environmentally friendly the heating is.
When wood burns, it gives off smoke consisting of a mixture of gases and microscopic solid wood particles. This data indicates the per hour quantity of solid particles released by a device.
The heating surface area indicates the number of square feet that a unit can heat. However, the height of the ceilings, the number of storeys, the shape and quality of the insulation in a house can have an impact on the heating area indicated for each model.
This technical feature is used as a comparison to illustrate the loading capacity of a model. All Stûvs models offer full use of the combustion chamber and have been designed to accommodate standard 16″ logs and more.
The weight of an appliance is something you should consider for your project since you may need to have a professional confirm that the structure is strong enough to support the chosen model.
The mobile deflector of the Stûv 30 opens and closes when the door is rotated to change the operating mode. When the door is in "open fire" mode or when the Stûv 30 is rotating, the deflector opens, allowing the smoke to escape, thus avoiding backflow into the room. When the drum is stopped on the glass door or on the solid door, the deflector closes again to prevent the smoke from being evacuated quickly, thus ensuring a second combustion of the gases.

Two grates located at the bottom of the Stûv 30 combustion chamber allow the ashes to be evacuated into a receptacle under the wood stove. The Stûv 30's removable ash pan makes handling the ashes quick and easy.

The double-walled facings at the back of the Stûv 30 are used to release heat into the room but also act as insulation. These double walls make it possible to install a wood stove like the Stûv 30 only 8 inches from any combustible material.

The Stûv 30's have the ability to rotate up to 360°. The rotation of the unit is determined by it’s location into the room and can be adjusted by 15° increments.

This connector located under the Stûv 30 is a 9.5" space that allows the outside air to be connected directly from the outside of the house to the combustion chamber. A silicone seal completes the connector, making this installation airtight.

The air required for combustion comes directly from under the unit via a 9.5’’ space that connects the outside air intake directly to the combustion chamber.
Air injectors at the top of the combustion chamber allow for a second combustion of the gases, this reduces the release of fine particles into the air.
Once the gases have burned they are evacuated through the flue pipe.
The sweeping air flow removes dust due to the combustion from the glass providing a perfect view of the flames.
The air is taken from the room and heated by the unit, the convection air circulates along the combustion chamber and absorbs the heat.
The heated air comes out naturally from the unit and distributes a comforting warmth into the room.

The Barn is a rural house project that turned a disused farm building into a warm, versatile family space. The project saved a 100-year-old building from loss while preserving its authentic architectural vernacular. The homeowners wanted to turn the old barn on the property of their chalet into a secondary country residence. Additionally, being busy […]
Why all this fascination with fire? When so many heating options are now available, why is it still important for many of us to integrate a “place of fire” right within our homes? We have to go back to prehistoric time when man began controlling the fire to fully understand the key role it still […]
