The energy efficiency or performance of a unit corresponds to the energy it releases compared to the energy it consumes. The higher the performance, the more efficient, economical and environmentally friendly the heating is.
When wood burns, it gives off smoke consisting of a mixture of gases and microscopic solid wood particles. This data indicates the per hour quantity of solid particles released by a device.
The heating surface area indicates the number of square feet that a unit can heat. However, the height of the ceilings, the number of storeys, the shape and quality of the insulation in a house can have an impact on the heating area indicated for each model.
This technical feature is used as a comparison to illustrate the loading capacity of a model. All Stûvs models offer full use of the combustion chamber and have been designed to accommodate standard 16″ logs and more.
The weight of an appliance is something you should consider for your project since you may need to have a professional confirm that the structure is strong enough to support the chosen model.
Stûv 6-in frames offer a sleek design to complete the decor.
The combustion chamber’s detachable casing makes installing Stûv 6-in a breeze. Separated from the heavier, cast iron combustion chamber, the lightweight support casing greatly simplifies the installation process.

The difference in thermal expansion of two metal plates built into the bottom of the combustion chamber allows the fireplace to autonomously manage the amount of air that is needed to start a fire. This helps bring in the air that is needed and makes it easier to start a fire when the unit is cold.

The Stûv 6-in offers the possibility to install a vertical smoke outlet or an angled flue useful for connecting to a more remote duct.

The hinged door of the Stûv 6-in has two hooks to ensure its solidity and make the combustion chamber even more airtight.

The Stûv 6-in combustion chamber is made of cast iron. It thus ensures high heat resistance and maximizes the unit performance.

Streamlined design that allows the fireplace to be recessed into smaller masonry hearths while enhancing the experience with a large view of the fire. A solution without compromise.

The air required for combustion can either be taken from the room via the front of the appliance or from an outside air intake.
The air injected at the top of the combustion chamber allows the gases to be burned a second time, preventing fine particles from being released into the air.
Once the gases are burned, they are evacuated through the flue.
Air flow along the glass helps keep it clean while increasing the insert’s efficiency.
The ambient air gathered from the room through the front of the appliance moves along the combustion chamber, absorbing heat.
Once heated, this air exits naturally through the appliance's upper frame, spreading comforting warmth through the room.

Étienne Bernier Architecture (EBA) – QUÉBEC The vision For our team, this architectural project was much more than simply designing a building, it was creating a living environment. From this particular perspective, we wanted to give meaning to the architecture, from the general layout to the smallest details, to create an inviting setting for all […]
Why all this fascination with fire? When so many heating options are now available, why is it still important for many of us to integrate a “place of fire” right within our homes? We have to go back to prehistoric time when man began controlling the fire to fully understand the key role it still […]
